Zoi Tsokanou conducted the world premiere of the oratorio 'Byzantine Passion' by Christos Samaras.
On April 15, 2022, at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the more than 120 artists from the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, the Mixed Choir of Thessaloniki and the 'Thessaloniki' Chant Choir performed under Zoi's baton the solemn oratorio of the award-winning Greek composer.
Classical and Byzantine music were brought together on stage and enhanced with the Divine Word, through the voice of the well-known actor Leonidas Kakouri.
The great contemporary Greek composer deals in his work with the Divine Drama and the Crucifixion, incorporating in an artful way elements of the Byzantine musical tradition.
